IN TIMES LIKE THESE
Written by: Fiona Pyszka
For many of us when we hear “in times like these” we want to follow up with the famous lines of the song, that continues with “we need a Savior”.
The thing is we forget that we are in need of a Savior all the time, no matter what the times or seasons of our life. Our life runs in seasons and as a steward of our time and resources from God we want to be keen and knowledgeable of those times and seasons. Solomon puts it best when he explains in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven. . .”
As Christians we need to start discerning the right times and seasons for things, doing things because we sense God’s desire for us to do it not because it is the thing that our forefathers did.
In this season, many people have a joyous time celebrating Jesus’ birth with their family and friends. While for others it is more bittersweet. It is the time of year where stress in increased just knowing who you will have to be around.
Here are some truths to keep in perspective as you visit with family and friends. You have to always remember who you are in Christ Jesus. Not who you are as the child of your mother or father or the sibling to your brother or sister. Remember if you have received Jesus as your Savior, this is what you are:
Take the love of Jesus with you this Christmas. Before you visit with family and friends, if they are contrary to your belief in God here is a great verse that you can confess over yourself to make sure that you do not get into an argument unnecessarily.
Ps 141:3
3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
Ephesians 2:6
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
CONFESSION:
Lord I thank you that you put a guard over my mouth today that my lips only speak what you would have me speak. Thank you Lord that I walk as a child that has been raised up with Christ and is seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Thank God for His mighty power to work in your life. His Word is powerful and quicker than a two edged sword.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
